4 Tarot Spreads for Love and Relationships

Yuewei Tarot · July 25, 2026

You don't need ten cards to get a good reading. Most relationship questions can be answered with three or five. The trick isn't more cards—it's knowing which positions to use so you don't end up with a pile of cards and no clear way to connect them.

Here are four spreads I come back to constantly. Each one solves a different kind of question. The first two are quick check-ins you can do daily. The last two go deeper when something specific is eating at you.

The Daily Check-In
Best for: morning reflection, general vibe, no specific problem
1 What energy am I bringing into my relationships today?
2 What should I be careful not to project onto others?
3 What's one thing I can do to connect better with someone I care about?

This spread is stupidly simple but it works because all three positions are about you. No asking what your partner is thinking. No asking if they'll text. Just you, your own patterns, and one small thing you can actually do today.

Situationship Reality Check
Best for: when you're not sure what this thing is or where it's going
1 What am I actually getting from this connection?
2 What am I ignoring or refusing to see?
3 If I stay on this path for another three months, what changes—and what stays the same?

Position two is where the discomfort lives. Almost every time I've used this spread for myself or someone else, the second card is the one that stings. It's also the one you should sit with the longest. Don't pull another card to "clarify." Sit with the sting. That's the whole point.

What's Blocking Us
Best for: recurring arguments, distance you can't explain, feeling stuck with someone you love
1 What am I contributing to this dynamic that I'm not owning?
2 What is the other person carrying that isn't about me?
3 The gap between us — what's actually filling that space?
4 One concrete thing I can shift on my side to change the pattern
5 Where is this heading if both of us stay exactly as we are?

Five cards because dynamics between two people are complicated. Position two matters here—it forces you to consider that half the tension you're feeling might not be about you at all. Not everything is a reflection of how much someone cares. Sometimes people are just going through their own thing, and you're standing too close to tell the difference.

The Crossroads: Stay or Go
Best for: when you genuinely don't know whether to stay or leave
1 What's the honest reason I'm considering leaving?
2 What's the honest reason I'm considering staying?
3 What would my life look like six months after leaving?
4 What would my life look like six months after staying?
5 What am I most afraid of—and is that fear based on reality or on a story I've been telling myself?

Don't use this spread lightly. It'll show you things you might not be ready to see. Pay attention to cards three and four: put them side by side and compare the two futures. One of them will feel heavier. One might look peaceful but boring. One might look exciting but unstable. You're not looking for which one is "better"—you're looking for which one you can actually live with.

A few things to keep in mind

Write down your spreads. Date them. Come back to the same spread two weeks later with the same question and see what's shifted. Sometimes the most useful information isn't any one card—it's the difference between two readings done a month apart.

When a card doesn't make sense in a position, don't force it. Ask yourself: what does make sense about this card showing up here? What if this isn't the wrong card, but the right card pointing at something I've been avoiding?
